Jeannine's Story

Jeannine Lucette Galerne was born Jeannine Lucette Renaud, daughter of Leon Renuad in Villeneive Saint George, outside Paris, France.

Jeannine’s early life included growing up in occupied France during WWII. She managed to continue her studies, her ballet dance training and participated in early spelunking with France’s combined boy and girl scouts.

Jeannine was 93 years young, and born on May 11, 1928, and passed away on July 25th, 2021 in Scottsdale Arizona, passing in her sleep while her son Lionel Galerne was present.

Jeannine lived a complete life, married her Scouting sweetheart, Andre Galerne and together they had four children Annie, Olivier, Eric, and Lionel, and both are survived by sons Eric and Lionel.

Married for 59 years from 1949 until 2008 when her husband Andre Galerne passed away in Scottsdale Arizona.

Jeannine was an inspired creative woman, dancing with the Paris ballet in her early years and knitting many tapestries of medieval style. She was a talented bowler and enjoyed chair exercises every day.

Jeannine will be missed by all that knew her. She will be cremated and laid to rest with Andre in the City Island waterfront cemetery, finally reunited forevermore.
